Bee Friendly Lawn

Grown with blooming ground cover plants such as clover, thyme, and self-heal combined with no-mow fescue grass mix; the mixture is more appealing visually than a standard grass lawn while also being attractive to bees and other pollinators. Bee lawns save you time by reducing your mowing costs and eliminating the need for irrigation, fertilizers, and pesticides.

Transitioning to a bee lawn can be accomplished rapidly or at a moderate pace. Both rapid and moderate transitions will allow you to start growing habitat for bees and butterflies in your own landscape.

Moderate Transition

Moderate transitions tend to cost a little less and require more time to provide habitat.

We aerate and over-seed through the existing lawn with pollinator seed mix three times per season.

We combine this with organic soy-based fertilizer and our special liquid compost extract to give the seedlings everything they need to get growing.

Moderate transition takes 1-2 seasons till the lawn is no-mow ready and filled with blooms for bees.

Moderate transitions can be started at any time during the spring, summer, or fall.

We start each project with an on-site project consultation. The price for consultation is $75 and we credit this toward your project when you sign up.

The Minnesota Legislature recently set aside funding to encourage homeowners to grow bee lawns. Once this program is up and running, we’ll help clients navigate the program and take advantage of this opportunity to pollinate the community!

Rapid Transition

Rapid transitions tend to cost a little more and provide habitat more immediately.

We remove the existing lawn, aerate the soil, then layer like a lasagna: Bee Lawn seed, compost, more seed, then a seed blanket covering are all laid down one after the other.

Rapid transition is combined with organic soy-based fertilizer and our special liquid compost extract to give the seedlings everything they need to get growing.

It will take root in a single season.

We prefer to perform rapid transitions in the spring or fall to reduce watering needs.
